It’s hard to find a discussion, blog post, newsletter or any real estate targeted gathering where AI isn’t on the top of every real estate brokerage decision maker’s mind.

While much of this discussion is about what AI might replace, the more important question is what it will actually change.

Today’s buyers and sellers have become accustomed to receiving immediate answers, personalized recommendations, and information that is available whenever they need it. Whether they are researching neighborhoods, comparing communities, or learning about the buying process, they increasingly expect technology to make those answers easier to find.

Consumers expect websites to be informative, search to be intuitive, and content to answer questions before they have to ask them. They expect communication to be timely and follow-up to be relevant. These expectations are not being driven solely by real estate. They are being shaped by every digital experience consumers have across every industry.

Great brokerages will continue to stand out because of their people, their expertise, and their relationships. It’s safe to say technology hasn’t and will never replace trust.

What technology can do is support that trust by making information easier to access, improving responsiveness, and removing friction throughout the customer experience.

Succeeding and staying successful over the next several years isn’t just about adopting new technology first. It’s about understanding how changing consumer expectations should influence the way they present information, communicate with clients, and support their agents.

AI isn’t changing what makes a great brokerage, it’s changing what buyers and sellers expect from one.
